REOPENING ON MAY 9TH

From 9 May onwards, the exhibitions in the Dortmunder U will be open again at regular times!

After 54 days, visitors* can enjoy the collection presentation "Body & Soul. Thinking, Feeling, Brushing Your Teeth" and the exhibition "60 Years of Friends of the Museum Ostwall" of the Museum Ostwall, as well as the exhibition "The Curated Wardrobe" at the UZWEI.

BODY & SOUL. THINK, FEEL, BRUSH YOUR TEETH

In the collection presentation "Body & Soul", which was only presented to the public with a new design in February of this year, works from classical modernism to the present day examine the human body, explore its relationship to food, clothing, and movement, and defy its mortality. Expressionist paintings are dedicated to inner experience, and further works deal with fears, longings and the individual attitude towards spirituality.

60 YEARS FRIENDS OF THE MUSEUM OSTWALL

For 60 years the "Friends of the MO" have accompanied the Museum Ostwall. The museum has spectacular acquisitions to thank for this support: a painting by Max Beckmann is among them, as well as a sculpture by Hans Arp or nearly 500 objects and documents from Wolfgang Feelisch's Fluxus collection. Since 2014, they have also been awarding the MO Art Prize to artists* in the tradition of Fluxus and Dada, and support many of the MO Art Education projects. The exhibition "60 Years of Friends of the Museum Ostwall" provides an insight into the work of the association and shows a selection of works which - thanks to the friends of the MO - are now part of the collection.

THE CURATED WARDROBE

Knowing the prevailing problems, pollution and working conditions in the textile industry, how can one keep the fun of fashion and beautiful things? Are DIY, second hand, slow fashion or a capsule wardrobe possible alternatives to fast fashion and luxury fashion?

The exhibition "The Curated Wardrobe" provides possible answers to questions like these and invites visitors to actively engage with their own world.

HYGIENE RULES

Due to the current situation, various hygiene rules must be observed during a visit: For example, masks are mandatory and a distance regulation of at least 1.5m applies. In order to guarantee a safe distance, only a certain number of visitors* can be allowed into the exhibition at any one time. We ask for your understanding.

Unfortunately, events or educational programmes cannot take place at the moment and the cinema, the roof terrace as well as the catering facilities in the building must remain closed for the time being.

We are looking forward to seeing you!
