Opening "Body & Soul. Thinking, feeling, brushing teeth" on 7.2.2020

What makes our body? What does it need to exist? How do we perceive our body and the bodies of others? And what about our spiritual life? What do we love and what do we fear? What do we believe in?

Questions like these are the focus of the new collection presentation of the Museum Ostwall under the title "Body & Soul. Thinking, Feeling, Brushing Your Teeth". Works from classical modernism to the present day examine our body, fathom its relationship to food, clothing and movement and defy its mortality. Expressionist paintings are dedicated to inner experience; other works confront us with our fears, our longings and our attitude towards spirituality. We are challenged to become active ourselves: Wolf Vostell's installation "Umgraben" invites us to search our soul life for the repressed, Michael Landy's "Donation Box" - a new acquisition - humorously reflects our desire for redemption, and in Bill Seaman's video installation "Exchange Fields" our body interacts with that of a dancer.

In addition, visitors* can expect a new design of the exhibition floors: More spacious rooms and a visitor-friendly path system facilitate orientation, the Flux Inn offers space for creativity and relaxation, and a new ArtActionRoom offers the possibility to hold seminars and workshops directly in the exhibition.

We cordially invite you to the opening of the new collection presentation of the Museum Ostwall"Body & Soul - Thinking, feeling, brushing your teeth" on Friday, 7.2.2020, at 18:30to participate in the View!
