MO Kunstpreis 2019

MO Kunstpreis 2019

MO art prize 2019

For the sixth time already, the Friends of the Museum Ostwall have awarded the MO art prize "Dada, Fluxus and the Consequences". In an exciting jury meeting with a total of six nominees, the Israeli artist Idan Hayosh was chosen.
Like all previous prizewinners*, Hayosh works with everyday materials. In contrast to the works previously purchased as part of the prize, which always had a funny, playful side, his works are characterized by their austere form and aggressiveness. They confront us with violent aspects of social coexistence: military and war.

Idan Hayosh was born in Tel Aviv in 1979. Today he lives and works in Essen. He has presented his works in numerous international exhibitions, including at the 54. Biennale in Venice, at the Centraal Museum Utrecht, at the CTM Festival Berlin and at the Henie Onstad Kunstsenter (NO).

As part of the MO Art Prize, the artist will create an installation specifically related to the Dortmunder U, which will be opened at the festive award ceremony on December 15, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the Dortmunder U.
