Flowery craft for Mother's Day at Family Sunday

26.04.2022

On May 1, Family Sunday at the Dortmunder U will once again offer visitors big and small a free program: The whole family can discover the U and its offerings on all levels from noon to 5 p.m..

Around the staircase and on the roof terrace of the Dortmunder U, a number of animals have been hidden in the form of small stickers. At the reception there is a collection card for the animal search. Those who have found all the animals will receive a small reward there (12-5 p.m.).

A one-hour "Journey through the U" starts at 12:30 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. These children's tours for 5 to 12-year-olds last one hour, meeting point is the reception on the first floor. At the UZWEI, you can work your magic with light: You have to create mail lights out of colorful transparent paper. Hung in front of windows, they look as if they could light up all by themselves. If you've already made a lantern, you can scan it to make it shine in a colorful, digital spring festival. You can also create a pocket movie theater at UZWEI. Self-drawn film strips are inserted into a small mechanical device made of cardboard - and you're already whizzing through imaginative worlds in your vehicle.

The U Podcast with radio author Sascha Wundes also enters its second round. It's all about the sounds made by the fantastic vehicles in the current TRAFFIK exhibition. What does a car, a rocket or a submarine sound like?
On Level 3, children ages 8 and up can playfully explore HMKV's current exhibition "House of Mirrors" in a children's rally. A family guided tour through the exhibition starts at 3 p.m., a guided tour for adults at 4 p.m..

In the KunstAktionsRaum on Level 4, Museum Ostwall invites visitors to create flower postcards for Mother's Day in an art workshop. After a brief tour of the new exhibition "FLOWERS!" visitors can use pressed flowers as models for sketches, which are then expanded into postcards with collage elements made of floral fabrics. A one-hour guided tour of the "FLOWERS!" exhibition starts at 2 p.m. (free after purchasing a ticket). A free 90-minute guided tour of the collection presentation "Body & Soul. Thinking, Feeling, Brushing Teeth" at Museum Ostwall begins at 3 p.m.

In the cinema in the U, gamers will be able to play games in good company. With a controller or a real steering wheel, you can put your Mario Kart skills to the test.
