Talk café with Feridun Zaimoglu
The writer Feridun Zaimoglu is known as one of Germany's most important contemporary authors and literary voices. At the same time, he keeps a close and critical eye on the political activities as well as the social developments in Germany and takes an active role in the current political debate.His most famous works are Kanak Sprak, Leyla and Liebesbrand among others.
Zaimoglu studied art and human medicine in Kiel where he since has been working as a writer, screenwriter and journalist. He was a columnist for the Zeit magazine and writes for the newspapers Die Welt, Frankfurter Rundschau, Die Zeit and FAZ. In 2002, he received the Hebbel prize, 2003 the Jury Prize in the Bachmann competition in Klagenfurt and 2004 the Adelbert-von-Chamisso-Prize.
In 2005, he was a fellow of the Villa Massimo in Rome. In the same year, he received the Hugo-Ball-Prize and the Grimmelshausen-Prize in 2007. For his last novel Liebesbrand he was awarded the Corine-Prize in 2008 and the Jakob-Wassermann-Literature-Prize in 2010 .
The talk café – with tee, pastry and music – is moderated by the city's director Jörg Stüdemann.
